  • Training and Certification

    All courses are approved by the American Heart Association, Emergency Care and Safety Institue and the National Safety Council. Students receive a certification valid for 2 years.


  • Owned and operated by Tom Murphy. Tom is a 36 year veteran of the Chicago Fire Deparment. As a former Army Infantry Medic and a graduate of Northwestern's Paramedic Program, Tom continues to serve the City as EMS Chief of Chicago's Downtown District.

     Tom is dedicated to his motto " Confidence by Competence". He has received numerous Unit Performance Awards for exceptional performance and was the 2009 City of Chicago's Paramedic Award of Valor Recipient as well as the 5-11 Club's Paramedic of the Year.

Classes

Basic Life Support (BLS)

In this classroom-based course, healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Full course and refresher course available.

Heartsaver� AED

This classroom course provides training in basic CPR and AED skills such as giving CPR to an infant, child, or an adult; using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED); and using a mask or barrier device. The course provides training for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR, use of an AED, and obtain a Heartsaver course completion card. .

Heartsaver� First Aid With CPR & AED

This classroom course trains in basic first Aid, CPR, and AED skills and is designed to meet OSHA requirements. The course provides training for anyone who wants to learn basic first aid for adults, CPR, use of an AED, and obtain a Heartsaver course completion card. .

First Responder

You'll learn what it takes to be a First Responder, how the human body works, and how to lift and move patents safely.

  • Course content includes:
  • Patient Assessment
  • Airway and breathing emergencies, ventilation devices and oxygen
  • Cardiac emergencies, CPR, and automated external defibrillatiion (AED)
  • Illness and injury, including medical emergencies, bleeding and shock, soft tissue injuries, muscle and bone injuries, and head and spine injuries
  • Childbirth, and assiting infants and children

The program also covers EMS response and operations, and addresses mass-casualty incidents and triage. Duration 40-44 Hours.
